James Callàs Ball is a theatre director based in London. He lives on a boat and thinks his middle name is French.
He is a Junior Associate Director at the King's Head Theatre after completing a one-year training residency from March 2017/18.
James' most notable directing work was the West Avenue Theatre Company production of Positive by Shaun Kitchener. The play received excellent reviews including an Off-West End Nomination. He is collaborating with Shaun this year on his new play All That.
James is the co-founding member of (Speechless) Theatre Company who specialise in making original plays-with-no-words set in bizarre new worlds. The company have made two productions so far... All or Nothing? [MUST SEE - The Stage] and Drawn In [***** Everything Theatre].
James achieved a First Class BA (Hons) Drama degree at the University of East Anglia before completing the 'Foundation in Acting' course at RADA. He worked as an actor after leaving drama school before becoming a theatre directing. As an actor he was in the sell-out Margaret Thatcher Queen of Gameshows [Assembly - Edinburgh Fringe] by Olivier-winning playwright Jon Brittain; Relish by James Graham [Tramshed - Old Street] with the National Youth Theatre; Rose Rage [Hidden Room Theatre, Austin, Texas] and award-winning comedy NewsRevue [Canal Cafe Theatre].
